5 Most Common Female Body Shapes

What you wear defines you. But, isn’t it true that what you wear can also be influenced by your body type?

Everyone is on the lookout for the ideal body form, but what exactly is the ideal body shape? It’s worth noting that “ideal body form” is subjective and largely arbitrary, therefore the ideal body type isn’t something that has to be met.

It’s not always easy to know how to adapt fashion trends to our distinct and lovely body types, especially when they change so quickly. However, I do not feel that fashion is about following the crowd.

Lots of companies like Kegglers are now providing tools that can be used for kegel exercises and they can definitely help if you integrate them into your yoga routine. It’s about feeling great in the looks we love and feeling great about who we are.

When talking about female body shapes, there are 5 major ones, characteristics of which we have listed below:

Female Body Shapes: Rectangle

Having a rectangle body shape means having waist measurements that are less than 9 inches smaller than the hip or bust measurements. So, you are not particularly curvy, your waist is not well-defined and your weight is fairly distributed throughout the body.

This shape of the body is also called the straight or ruler body.

Female Body Shapes: Triangle

Triangle aka pear body shape is characterized by large hips which are wider than your bust. Other characteristics of this body shape are a defined waist, and proportionately slim arms and shoulders. Weight is distributed more in your bottom and legs, rather than your upper body.

Female Body Shapes: Hourglass

This body shape is characterized by hip and bust measurements nearly equal in size, with a narrower waist measurement. Your shoulders are slightly round and your legs are in proportion with your upper body.

A study of more than 6,000 women conducted at North Carolina State University in 2005 revealed that 46% of women were banana-shaped; just over 20% were pear-shaped; just under 14% were apple-shaped, while only 8% were hourglass-shaped

Female Body Shapes: Apple

This body shape describes a person who is generally well-proportioned, with broader shoulders and bust, and narrower hips. The body is not necessarily as curvy through your hips and it doesn’t have a well-defined waistline. This body shape resembles that of Naomi Campbell.

Female Body Shapes: Round

Typical characteristics of the round or oval body shape are having a large bust, narrow hips, and a full midsection. You tend to gain more weight in your stomach, back, and upper body. You also have flat buttocks and slender legs.

Is any of the above-mentioned shape your body shape?
